Shadowmere Band

Shadowmere

Where the haunting meets the beautiful

Our Story

In the dimly lit corners of Seattle's coffee shop open mic nights, where espresso steam mingled with whispered poetry and soulful melodies, Shadowmere was born. What began as a loose gathering of kindred spirits—each with a notebook full of verses and a head full of stormy chords—soon evolved into something far more cohesive and haunting. The band's early sound echoed off the brick walls of Capitol Hill basements and creaked through weathered floorboards of forgotten taverns, drawing in listeners like a magnetic pull from the foggy Sound. These spaces became sanctuaries for experimentation, where personal tales entwined with the melancholia of the Northwest, shaping a sound both intimate and cinematic.

Shadowmere's music is a moody blend of alt rock, gothic texture, and narrative depth, weaving a tapestry that nods to literary giants like Poe and Shelley while grounding itself in the rain-soaked mythos of Cascadia. Their lyrics delve into stories of lost souls, ancient forests, and half-remembered dreams, each track a shadow play of emotion and atmosphere. Whether through ghostly ballads or searing, distorted anthems, Shadowmere invites audiences into a world just beyond the veil—where the haunting meets the beautiful, and every song feels like an echo from the mist.

Luna Blackwood
Lead Vocals & Piano

Luna Blackwood

Luna Blackwood, Shadowmere's enigmatic lead vocalist and pianist, grew up wandering the misty outskirts of Port Townsend, where foghorns and forgotten cemeteries whispered lullabies into her childhood. Raised by her grandmother, a reclusive poet with a love for gothic novels and dusty record players, Luna was steeped in a world of haunting melodies and tragic tales from an early age. Her pale complexion and intricately braided raven hair became a signature presence at Seattle's open mic nights, where she played antique upright pianos and sang like a séance—drawing in crowds with a voice that felt both ancient and fragile. With her vintage gothic style, dark lipstick, and silver talismans that seem to shimmer with stories, Luna doesn't just perform songs—she conjures them from the shadows, giving life to the ghosts that linger between the lyrics.

Asher Grey
Guitar

Asher Grey

Asher Grey, Shadowmere's guitarist and brooding sonic architect, grew up in the rain-soaked sprawl of Olympia, where punk house shows and late-night vinyl sessions shaped his early rebellion. The son of a bookstore owner and a faded grunge-era session musician, Asher found solace between the pages of dystopian novels and the feedback of his father's old tube amp. Tall and lean with tousled brown hair and piercing blue eyes that seem to see stories in static, he brings a raw, emotional edge to Shadowmere's sound—his riffs both jagged and melodic, like pages torn from a dream. His denim jacket, worn thin and stitched with vintage band pins, is a living archive of his influences—from shoegaze obscurities to '80s post-punk legends. For Asher, every guitar line is a confession, every solo a storm rolling in from the Pacific.

Nova Sterling
Bass

Nova Sterling

Nova Sterling, Shadowmere's bassist and celestial heartbeat, was raised under the vast, starlit skies of eastern Washington, where desert winds and endless nights shaped her quiet fascination with the cosmos. A former astronomy student turned nocturnal musician, Nova brings an ethereal presence to the band—petite in stature but anchoring their sound with hypnotic, velvety basslines that seem to orbit each song's emotional core. Her silver-blonde hair, usually swept into playful space buns, and the constellation tattoos scattered across her collarbones, reflect a mind always half-drifting into the stars. With delicate features and a calm, observant energy, Nova speaks little but plays with intention, grounding Shadowmere's gothic atmosphere with a steady pulse that feels like the echo of some ancient, celestial rhythm.

River Stone
Drums

River Stone

River Stone, Shadowmere's drummer and rhythmic anchor, hails from the dense evergreens of the Quinault Reservation on Washington's Olympic Peninsula, where the sound of rain on cedar and the beat of ceremonial drums became his earliest music. With a strong jawline, long black hair tied in a loose ponytail, and tribal tattoos honoring his heritage etched across his shoulders, River carries his culture into every performance—merging ancestral rhythms with the pulse of modern alt rock. His drumming is instinctive and grounded, evoking thunder, ritual, and the primal heartbeat of the earth beneath Shadowmere's gothic storytelling. Offstage, he is quiet and contemplative, often drawing strength from the wilderness or carving small totems by hand, but behind the kit, River becomes elemental—turning every show into something both powerful and sacred.
